INDIANA H.E.R.O.
Haiti Earthquake Relief Organization

January 16, 2010

Dear Friends:

INDIANA H.E.R.O. (Haiti Earthquake Relief Organization) is Indiana’s response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Many central Indiana organizations, churches, businesses and hospitals with links to Haiti have formed this coalition in order to coordinate medical relief efforts in Haiti.

These relief efforts include sending medical professionals with extensive experience in Haiti to help on the ground. The organization will also collect donations of medical equipment and supplies and facilitate their transportation to Haiti.

Several H.E.R.O. medical response teams are already departing this week and will be going to specific hospitals and clinics in various parts of Haiti. Future medical teams will follow in the weeks and months to come. These teams are self supporting and are comprised of doctors, nurses and other medical personnel.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are asking for donations of medical supplies (see attached list for preferred items). We are also seeking monetary donations to help with the costs of transporting the items to Haiti. See attached for ways to donate.

You can play a role in helping Indiana help the people of Haiti to recover from this devastating natural disaster.

Sincerely,

INDIANA H.E.R.O.

Monetary Donations:
All monetary donations will be used directly to benefit the people of Haiti. INDIANA H.E.R.O. is comprised strictly of volunteers and there are no overhead or operational costs - other than the cost of transporting medical equipment and supplies to Haiti. Monetary donations can be given to INDIANA H.E.R.O. in several ways.
  • You can make a cash or check donation at National City Bank. Account Name: Indiana Relief Funds for Haiti
  • You can give your check donation to any of the members of the participating organizations. Make checks payable to Indiana Relief Funds for Haiti.
  • If you would like for your contribution to be tax deductable you can make your check payable to St. Mary Cathedral* with Earthquake Relief in the memo.
*Since INDIANA H.E.R.O. was recently formed to deal directly with earthquake relief in Haiti, it does not have 501(c)(3) status. St. Mary is assisting H.E.R.O. in collecting funds for those that desire to donate to a 501(c)(3) organization. All money donated to St. Mary with Earthquake Relief indicated in the memo will go directly to INDIANA H.E.R.O.

For questions regarding monetary donations please contact Jill Jean-Baptiste at (317) 402-6467.
